Join researcher and writer, archivist, and AGS board member Nancy Adgent for a guided tour of cemeteries in the Nashville and Columbia areas: antebellum, Jim Crow segregated, garden, and modern. Many of these cemeteries have ethnic sections, and several feature the work of noted carver Cader Baucom, Jr. (1819-1867).

The 3-day tour begins on Thursday, November 5th and ends on Saturday, November 7th. Each tour day will be from approximately 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Please note - cemeteries are inherently uneven with hidden depressions, holes, roots, and other walking hazards. Several of the cemeteries on the tour are in rural areas with taller grass, hillsides, and varying terrain. Participants should be able to tour without assistance.

This small group tour is limited to fifteen participants. Each registrant will receive a comprehensive study guide, waters, and lunch each day at an independent, locally owned restaurant. Transportation will be provided in four cars from the Hampton Inn, Spring Hill, Tennessee. Participants are responsible for their transportation to the area, lodging, breakfasts, and dinners. There is a separate 1-day tour ($60.00) on Sunday, November 8th to visit comb graves in Sparta, Tennessee. Registration for that tour is a separate process.

Registration closes Monday, October 12, 2026. The 3-day tour price is $150.00. Any cancellations prior to this date will be refunded.
